Newmarket-Aurora MP Lois Brown was born and raised in nearby King Township, a small community just north of Toronto. She grew up in a large family with four brothers and an equal number of sisters.
From an early age, Lois displayed a talent for the piano, and pursued studies at the Royal Conservatory. Lois continues to play, she keeps a piano in her apartment in Ottawa and continues to perform as the accompanist with the York Regional Police Chorus.
For years Lois worked as an assistant to Progressive Conservative MPP Frank Klees before being becoming a MP herself in 2008. Happily married to husband Kelvin, they have two grown daughters. Catherine Clark spoke to Conservative MP Lois Brown about her life Beyond Politics.
