Yukon MP Ryan Leef may be the only MP who lists mixed martial arts fighter at the Armageddon Fighting Championships on his resume. A fitness buff, mixed martial arts is only one of a number of athletic skills that the Conservative MP possesses.
Born in Guelph, Ontario, Ryan's father was a wildlife conservation officer and moved his family up to the Yukon when Ryan was only 8. His father held several different postings in the Territory and as a result Ryan was able to acquire a more comprehensive view of the Yukon.
Ryan attended the University of Windsor where he studied criminology and became a conservation officer himself. He also worked for the RCMP and the was Deputy Superintendant of the Whitehorse Jail before becoming elected in 2011.
