On November 26th, voters in the riding of Calgary-Centre will go to the polls in a by-election to replace outgoing Conservative MP Lee Richardson.
In the previous election, Richardson, now chief of staff to Alberta premier Alison Redford, won with a plurality of over 19,000 votes. The riding has always voted right of centre, either Conservative, PC or Reform, but a bitter fight for the Conservative nomination, won by media personality Joan Crockatt, left the party membership divided and gave hope for an upset to the other candidates. Former provincial Liberal leader Harvey Locke is running for the Liberals, Dan Meades for the NDP, and writer and author Chris Turner for the Greens.
