Campaign Politics

Eglinton--Lawrence is the essence of paradox. The north Toronto riding is home to some of Canada’s wealthiest and poorest citizens. It’s also age diverse. In some neighbourhoods, over half the voting population is families with young children. In others, more than 25 per cent of voters are seniors. It’s the battle of the Joes in 2011. Incumbent Liberal candidate Joe Volpe has held the riding for 23 years. He’s being challenged for the second time by a strong Conservative candidate, Joe Oliver, who lost by just 2,000 votes in 2008.

CPAC’s Karen Soloman finds out how the leading candidates are approaching this neck-and-neck campaign, and what NDP candidate Justin Chatwin and the Green Party's Paul Baker are offering up to voters as an alternative.
