Campaign Politics

Kingston and the Islands

Peter Milliken is best known as the longest serving Speaker of the House of Commons in Canadian history. He’s also represented the riding of Kingston and the Islands as a Liberal MP for nearly 23 years. His retirement has created a wide open race. Historically it’s been a swing riding and this time around many are saying it’s simply too close to call.
Ted Hsu is a former physicist with a background in science , business and the not-for-profit world. He is running for the Liberal Party and he is working hard to keep the riding red. Conservative candidate Alicia Gordon, a local business owner, is determined to turn this riding blue.
Joining Hsu and Gordon on the ballot are NDP candidate Daniel Beals and Green Party candidate Eric Walton. Beals says he has been campaigning for the past nineteen months and this is Walton’s third time running federally.
