THE PROVINCIAL CAMPAIGN IN MANITOBA
The 40th provincial election will be held on Tuesday, October 4.

Ed Watson travels to Manitoba to talk with the party leaders and to discover what voters are thinking.

NDP leader Greg Selinger is hoping to hang on to the job of premier, a job he took after the resignation of Gary Doer. If the New Democrats are re-elected it will be the first time any Manitoba party has won four consecutive majorities. Hugh McFadyen hopes to prevent that record as leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba -- the official opposition for 12 years. The federal Conservatives almost swept Manitoba in the May election, and McFadyen believes provincial voters are tired of the NDP. The Liberals want to stop the erosion of their support and do better than the two seats they won in 2007. The Greens are running 32 candidates this time, and are once again looking for a breakthrough.
