Mississauga South
Liberal MP Paul Szabo is a self-described Blue Liberal. His positions on abortion (against), same-sex marriage (against), and stem cell research (against) may put him at odds with many in the Liberal party. But Szabo and other similar-minded social conservatives found a home in Jean Chrétien’s big-tent Liberal party. Since 1993 he has comfortably held the riding of Mississauga South.
In the last election, his margin was just over 2,000 votes. This time the Conservatives believe Szabo is vulnerable, and that Stella Ambler will deliver a victory. The NDP are running banker Farah Kalbouneh. Paul Simas is the Green candidate. This riding is also home to the lone candidate of the Capitalist Party, lawyer Richard Barrett.
