In 2008, Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon won this seat by beating his long-time rival Cindy Duncan McMillan, a farmer running for the Liberals. The NDP is pinning its hopes on Mathieu Ravignat, who has advocated for various environmental and community causes for quite some time and teaches Karate to children in the Wakefield area. The Bloc Québécois is represented by Maude Tremblay and the Greens by Louis-Philippe Mayrand.
