St. John’s East
In 2008, Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams waged an assault against the Harper Conservatives that resulted in no Conservatives being elected from the province. In St. John’s East, the NDP’s Jack Harris took a Tory stronghold with a plurality of 25 thousand votes. This year, Danny Williams is no longer Premier and the provincial Progressive Conservatives and the federal Conservatives have resolved their differences but whether that message has filtered down to the electorate will only be known when the ballots will be counted on election day. Jack Harris is once again, on the ballot for the NDP and the Conservatives have pinned their hopes on Jerry Byrne. The Liberals are counting on John Allan and The Green Party candidate is Robert Miller.
CPAC’s Roger Bill has the story from St. John’s East.
