CPAC’s Danielle Young travels to the Montreal suburban riding of Vaudreuil–Soulanges, Que., where the incumbent, Bloc Québécois MP Meili Faille, faces a stiff challenge from Michael Fortier, Conservative candidate and minister of International Trade.
In 2006, Ms. Faille faced a similar test when the Liberals chose former astronaut Marc Garneau as their star candidate in this riding. Ms. Faille won handily by nearly 10,000 votes.
Danielle talks to the candidates and the citizens of this largely affluent riding where the Conservatives have invested heavily to wrestle the seat away from Ms. Faille, the popular Bloc Québécois MP. The other candidates include Brigitte Legault (Liberal) and Maxime Héroux-Legault (New Democratic Party).
Danielle also speaks with André Tanguay (president, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vadreuil–Dorion), Charles L. Miliot (coordinator, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vaudreuil–Dorion) and journalists Céline Pilon (Your Local Journal) and Mario Pitre (Le Soleil de Valleyfield).
