In Committee From The House Of Commons

Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics

Federal Information Commissioner Suzanne Legault and Assistant Information Commissioner Emily McCarthy discuss Bill C-461, which would make changes to the Access to Information Act as it relates to the CBC. The bill from MP Brent Rathgeber also calls for the salary disclosure of federal employees who earn more than $188,000 a year.

Gregory Thomas, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, and Stephen Taylor, director of the National Citizens Coalition, express their support of the proposed legislation.

UPDATE: On June 5, the committee made major amendments to Bill C-461. Later that evening, Brent Rathgeber announced he had resigned from the Conservative caucus to sit as an Independent MP.
