In Committee From The House Of Commons

Status of Women

The committee hears from a number of aboriginal organizations as it continues its consideration of the government's legislation (S-2) concerning matrimonial property on reserves.

Jody Wilson-Raybould, B.C. regional chief for the AFN, and Robert Louie, chair of the First Nations Lands Advisory Board, outline their concerns with the bill in the first part of the meeting.

Jeffrey Cyr, executive director of the National Association of Friendship Centres, and Kim van der Woerd, a board member of the Young Women's Christian Association, present their views next.

UPDATE: Bill S-2 received royal assent on June 19.
