Michèle Audette, president of the Native Women's Association of Canada, Janice Makokis, an Idle No More organizer, Mary Eberts, a human rights lawyer who is appearing as an individual, and Lloyd Phillips, chief of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake, voice their opposition to the government's legislation (S-2) to modernize the laws for matrimonial property on reserves.
Former MP Brian Pallister, who is now a member of Manitoba’s Legislative Assembly, is the only witness who expresses support for the legislation.
