In Committee from the Senate of Canada

Legal and Constitutional Affairs

Senators hear from two panels as they continue their review of Bill C-36, the government's elder abuse legislation.

Dr. Naila Butt from the Social Services Network, Barbara Mildon with the Canadian Nurses Association and Maxine Lithwick representing the Montreal Jewish General Hospital present their views during the first panel.

The second panel is made up of Catherine Drillis from the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE), Laura Tamblyn Watts with the Canadian Centre for Elder Law and Charmaine Spencer of the Research Centre at Simon Fraser University.

UPDATE: Bill C-36 received royal assent on December 14.
