Senators deal with two pieces of legislation during the meeting. They first conduct clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-15, which would amend the National Defence Act and other Acts in order to strengthen the military justice system.
The committee then continues its review of a Conservative private member's bill (C-350) that aims to increase the accountability of offenders. The proposed legislation would ensure that any monetary award owed to an offender as a result of a civil lawsuit against the Crown would be distributed by priority to fulfill outstanding debts, such as child support or victim surcharges.
