In Committee from the Senate of Canada

Transport and Communications

Catherine Cobden of the Forest Products Association of Canada, Richard Phillips of Grain Growers of Canada, Robert Godfrey and Ian MacKay from the Canadian Fertilizer Institute, Ian May and Allan Foran of the Western Canadian Shippers' Coalition and Greg Cherewyk from Pulse Canada discuss Bill C-52. Witnesses outline the roles of their respective organizations and present proposed amendments. The proposed legislation aims to strengthen the rail freight service by giving shipping companies the right to a service agreement with railways. It will also create an arbitration process to establish an agreement when commercial negotiations fail.
