2nd Session—33rd Parliament

Question Period opens with a fierce exchange between John Turner (Leader of the Opposition) and Prime Minister Brian Mulroney concerning the re-negotiation of the Canada–U.S. Free Trade Agreement. Deputy Prime Minister Don Mazankowski and John McDermid (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for International Trade) also respond to questions about the free trade deal.

Joe Clark (Secretary of State for External Affairs) makes a statement concerning the peace process in Central America and his own negotiations with Central American leaders; Lloyd Axworthy and Bill Blaikie respond.

The House resumes second reading of Bill C-54, a bill to amend the Criminal Code, with speeches by Rob Nicholson, Marion Dewar, Mr. Axworthy, Lawrence I. O’Neil, Ernie Epp, and Bob Kaplan.
