2nd Session—33rd Parliament

The House resumes its consideration of Bill C-87, the Customs Tariff Act, with speeches by Rod Murphy, Pierre H. Vincent (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance), Lloyd Axworthy, David Orlikow, Vic Althouse, Maurice Foster, Mike Cassidy, John McDermid (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for International Trade), Jean-Robert Gauthier, Stan J. Hovdebo, Ernie Epp, Iain Angus, and Les Benjamin.

Question Period opens with an exchange between Lucie Pépin and Jake Epp (Minister of National Health and Welfare) concerning a government announcement of increased funding for daycare. Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mr. McDermid respond to questions on the Canada–U.S. Free Trade Agreement.

Deputy Prime Minister Don Mazankowski tables the final report of the Parker Commission, which, in its investigation of former cabinet member Sinclair Stevens, found numerous instances of conflict of interest.
