On a designated opposition day, Perrin Beatty moves a non-confidence motion condemning the Government for its contempt for the Canadian taxpayers and its incomprehensible taxation policies; participants in the debate include Nelson A. Riis, Pierre Bussières (Minister of National Revenue), Chris Speyer, Douglas Fisher (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance), Lorne Greenaway, Pierre Gimaïel, John Gamble, and André Maltais (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development). Mr. Beatty’s motion is later lost on a recorded vote. In the course of debate, the House is summoned to the Senate chamber and the royal assent is given to Bill C-2. Question Period includes questions on the subject of the Canadian fishery and the Key Lake Uranium Mine.
