2nd Session—33rd Parliament

The House resumes its report-stage consideration of Bill C-55, an amendment to the Immigration Act; participating in the debate are Dan Heap, Jim Manly, Ernie Epp, Sheila Copps, Cyril Keeper, Douglas C. Frith, and Howard McCurdy.

Leading off Question Period is an exchange between John Turner (Leader of the Opposition) and Don Mazankowski (Deputy Prime Minister) over the costs of a by-election in the riding of Lac-Saint-Jean, Que. Joe Clark (Secretary of State for External Affairs) answers questions on the admission of Francisco Nota Moises, an alleged spokesperson for a Mozambican terrorist group, as a refugee. Harvie Andre (Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs) responds to questions about Canada Post.

Gerry St. Germain (Minister of State for Transport) introduces the second reading of Bill C-131, an amendment to the National Transportation Act, Mr. Frith and Pauline Jewett respond and the bill quickly passes second and third reading.
