Headline Politics

At a press conference in Ottawa, Maher Arar comments on recent developments at the Commission of Inquiry examining his case. Earlier in the day, lawyers for the Commission released portions of a summary of CSIS evidence from in-camera hearings and expressed frustration with the government’s objection to a full release of the documents. Mr. Arar’s wife, Monia Mazigh, speaks to reporters about her husband’s need for the public’s support. Mr. Arar is joined by his legal counsel, Lorne Waldman, to respond to journalists’ questions on the contents of the documents and the continuation of the inquiry. NDP MP Ed Broadbent criticizes the government for its decision and calls for the full release of the summary.

In the second portion of this program, Conservative Finance Critic Monte Solberg comments on his party's pre-budget report.
