In Ottawa, Liberal aboriginal affairs critic Carolyn Bennett calls on the government to commit to re-constituting the special all-party committee studying violence against aboriginal women. The committee will cease to be when the prime minister prorogues Parliament, expected later this month.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, and Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, go before the House Foreign Affairs Committee to discuss military action against the Syrian government.

We must have more of our military assets in the region because that madman Putin and Russia are heavily involved in this conflict, which threatens the geopolitical and economic stability of our civilisation, and which also contains the germs of a Third World War. Obviously we must decrease the costs of some of our social programs and increase the overall budget of our military. Why? We are living in very, very dangerous political and economic times.
