Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182

Witness: Robert Wall

Robert Wall (a former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)) continues to testify. Under direct examination by Commission Counsel Anil Kapoor, Mr. Wall describes his work with the RCMP Air India task force. Mr. Kapoor also asks the witness a number of specific questions about his knowledge of RCMP interviews with an individual identified as “Mr. Z” and about the interest of the Canadian Security Intelligence Services (CSIS) in “Mr. Z.” Mr. Wall discusses challenges plaguing the RCMP’s investigation into the Air India bombing, including personality conflicts within the RCMP and a stressful work environment. Jacques Shore (Counsel for the Air India Victims’ Families Association) cross-examines Mr. Wall, posing a series of increasingly confrontational questions and asking what, in hindsight, Mr. Wall might have done differently during the investigation. Charleen Brenzall (Counsel for the Attorney General of Canada) cross-examines Mr. Wall.
