Commission of Inquiry into the Investigation of the Bombing of Air India Flight 182

Witness: Bart Blachford

Bart Blachford (Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)) continues his testimony before the Commission under direct examination by Commission Counsel Anil Kapoor. Mr. Blachford recalls a 1992 a phone conversation with a source identified as “Ms. E,” who was a Sikh woman associated with Ajaib Singh Bagri, an individual suspected of involvement in the plot to bomb Air India flight 182. Norman Boxall (Counsel for the Air India Victims’ Families Association) cross-examines Mr. Blachford, with questions focusing on the RCMP’s various interactions with “Ms. E.” Loretta Colton (Counsel for the Attorney General of Canada) cross-examines Mr. Blachford about differences in the handling of potential witnesses and informants by the RCMP and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). Mr. Kapoor asks some brief follow-up questions.
