The day’s testimony focuses on a June 2002 memorandum to Minister of Foreign Affairs Bill Graham and a related telephone conversation between Kathryn McCallion (Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT)) and Jack Hooper (Assistant Deputy Director of Operations for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS)). Marlys Edwardh (Counsel for Mr. Arar) introduces a motion requesting that portions of earlier testimony by Dave Dyet be made public. Commission Counsel Marc David summarizes earlier testimony by Mr. Dyet and by Barbara Burns. Dan Livermore (Director General, Security and Intelligence, DFAIT) testifies. Under examination by Mr. David, Mr. Livermore discusses the contents of the memorandum, which attempted to establish consensus between DFAIT, CSIS, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in dealings with the Syrians.
