The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar

Witness: Jack Hooper

Jack Hooper (Assistant Deputy Director of Operations for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS)) testifies. Under direct examination by Commission Counsel Paul J. J. Cavalluzzo, Mr. Hooper describes the activities of CSIS during the course of Mr. Arar’s detention in Syria, including a visit by CSIS officials to Syria. He is questioned about the alleged impression that CSIS did not want Mr. Arar returned to Canada.
