The Commission of Inquiry into the Actions of Canadian Officials in Relation to Maher Arar
The Commission hears oral closing submissions. Barbara A. McIsaac and Simon Fothergill make closing submissions on behalf of the federal government. They concede the “unacceptable” treatment of Mr. Arar but deny the responsibility of government agencies. Mr. Fothergill offers a detailed characterization of the role of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) during the various phases of Mr. Arar’s experience.
