Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and Advertising Activities

The Commission continues to hear closing oral arguments. Pierre LaTraverse, counsel for Jean Carle (the former director of operations in the Prime Minister’s Office) makes arguments denying Mr. Carle’s involvement, during his work for the Prime Minister’s Office, in the awarding of sponsorship contracts and denying Mr. Carle’s involvement in sponsorship activities in his subsequent role as vice-president at the Business Development Bank of Canada. Guy Pratte presents closing arguments on behalf of Jean Pelletier (the former chief of staff to Jean Chrétien), seeking to clarify the extent of Mr. Pelletier’s involvement in the sponsorship program, including the nature of his meetings with Charles Guité, and requesting his exoneration by the Commission.
