Commission of Inquiry into Certain Allegations Respecting Business and Financial Dealings Between Karlheinz Schreiber and the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney

Witness: Fred Doucet

The Commission continues to hear testimony from Fred Doucet (a former senior adviser to Mr. Mulroney). Under cross-examination by Richard Auger (Counsel for Mr. Schreiber), Mr. Doucet is asked about his attempts, during a series of meetings in 1999 and 2000, to have Mr. Schreiber clarify the exact nature of his business dealings with Mr. Mulroney. He is also asked about his attendance at a December 1994 meeting between Mr. Schreiber and Mr. Mulroney at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Robert Houston (Counsel for Mr. Doucet) cross-examines the witness, with questions focusing on his memory of written and telephone correspondence and on letters to Mr. Schreiber concerning Airbus aircraft purchased by Air Canada. There is a brief re-examination by Lead Commission Counsel Richard Wolson.
