Commission of Inquiry into Certain Allegations Respecting Business and Financial Dealings Between Karlheinz Schreiber and the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney

The Commission hears a motion by Richard Auger (Counsel for Mr. Schreiber) seeking, in light of ongoing extradition proceedings against Mr. Schreiber, an order or recommendation to have Mr. Schreiber remain in Canada until the end of the Commission’s policy review. There is a brief reply by Yannick Landry on behalf of the Attorney General of Canada. The Commissioner issues a ruling stating that Mr. Schreiber’s removal from Canada prior to the end of the Commission’s proceedings would constitute a “travesty of justice.”
