Very interesting.

Interesting indeed when you consider that the Harper Government is going to give the Chinese almost complete control of our country through a corporate deal, supposedly to help Chinese business investments in Canada, otherwise known as the sale of Canada to the Chinese. No debate in the parliament, no information or details given to the Canadian people as usual with this corporate government because they know it would never be agreed to. So why try and hide anything from a country which will soon have our sovereignty in the palm of thier hands? This omnibus bill in front of the Commons now is a smoke screen of Harperite proportions to hide what he is doing with the Chinese. Treason is always interesting no?

I think the Nexen deal is not good for Canada and Canadians. I don't want outsiders especially China to own and take control of our resources. They are going to do what is good for them NOT CANADIANS. Why has our Prime Minister been so secretive with this deal? What is he hiding? I have lost trust in this government and I hope by some miracle this deal does not happen. If it does, God help us all.

Rose: Canada's resources are not being sold down the river as you suggest, the resource is still owned by the Provinces and CNOOC will have to abide by Canadian laws and regulations. They will pay Canadian Corporate taxes and maintain jobs in Canada. This will give us a market for our oil at a world price of around 100 to 120.00 per barrel ; we will not have to depend on the U.S. who are getting our oil at a 25.00 discount. The FIPA trade agreement is a reciprocal agreement that allows Canada to purchase Chinese companies in the same way that China can purchase Canadian companies. Foreign investment is a very good thing for expansion in Canada which creates more jobs, which in turn increases personal income tax, increases EI contributions which generates more government revenues which in turn can fund many of Canada's social programs.

The theory of TILMA between BC and Alberta was OK, but when it was signed there were flaws that would still be there except TILMA has now expanded to inlcude Sask as well. Trade Investment and Labour Mobility agreement sounds wonderful until you delve into it and find that any profit loss disputes, which are the only ones that are really expressed as likely to take place and the only ones Campbell and Klein were asked to arrange for, only go to an independent tribunal and have no legal recourse; just like that the FIPA between Canada and China (which IS NOT a trade deal at all any more than is the Pacific Rim Pact) will have no courts envolved and we will not as Canadians that we are even being attacked for lost profits, nor how much we will have to pay. Not to worry though as this Harper government is not concernd with the size of our national debt or our deficit so they will just contiunue to rise merrily as we proceed into the vortex of debt based on credit that is fiat money anyway and has no meaning. What a mess
