The Great Canadian Debates

Resolved: The War of 1812 has been over-hyped

Was the War of 1812 a pointless conflict not worth commemorating? Or a foundation stone for today’s Canada and the United States that deserves a place of honour in our respective national memories? Jeffrey Simpson, The Globe and Mail’s national affairs columnist, debates Jack Granatstein, Canadian historian and former director of the Canadian War Museum.

The moderator is historian and author Michael Bliss. (November 7, 2012)
