Des McAnuff is the award winning director behind such Broadway productions as The Who's Tommy, Jersey Boys, and Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays. McAnuff was born in the U.S. but grew up in Toronto, attending Woburn Collegiate in Scarborough, where his love for the theatre developed.

McAnuff attended Ryerson University and worked with the Toronto Free Theatre. By 1976, he had moved to New York, where he worked on Broadway productions as renowned as Guys and Dolls, The Tempest, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Dracula the Musical. McAnuff was also responsible for the revival of the La Jolla Playhouse outside of San Diego where he served as its artistic director. For the last five years McAnuff has been the artistic director at Stratford. Even though he has left his position there he has returned this year to put on The Who's Tommy.
