Spider Robinson
Spider Robinson is one of the most prolific science-fiction writers in the world, having penned 35 books in 35 years. Born in New York, Spider emigrated to Canada in the 1970’s and met his future wife Jeanne, also an American, in Bridgeport, Nova Scotia, where she was performing with the Halifax Dance Co-op. Spider’s writing has garnered him several awards, 3 Hugos, a Nebula and, in 2008, the Robert Heinlein Award for Lifetime Excellence in Literature. Robinson regularly contributes book reviews for Galaxy, Analog and The Globe and Mail. From 1996 until 2004, Robinson wrote a regular op-ed column for the Globe. Last year at the age of 62, Spider’s wife and partner Jeanne Robinson fell victim to billiary cancer. Ken Rockburn spoke to Spider Robinson at his home on Bowen Island in British Columbia.
