Senator Andrée Champagne worked previously as an actress, singer, author, producer as a business owner who opened Montreal’s first casting agency.
In 1984, she left show business and was elected to the House of Commons as the MP for Saint-Hyacinthe-Bagot au Québec. In the course of her political career, she held various ministerial portfolios in the Mulroney government.
In August 2005, she was appointed to the Senate of Canada, where she sits as a Conservative.
