Fatima Houda-Pepin

In this episode, Pierre Donais welcomes Fatima Houda-Pepin. Born in Morocco, Fatima Houda-Pepin arrived in Canada in 1976. In the 1980s and 1990s, she worked as an immigration consultant for the Canadian government, the Government of Quebec and the City of Montreal. In 1994, she was elected as the Liberal MNA for the provincial riding of Lapinière. She made a name for herself during the debate over the potential introduction of Sharia law in Ontario. As a Muslim woman, she firmly opposed introducing Sharia law in Muslim homes.
