Louis Plamondon currently sits in the House of Commons as Bloc Quebecois MP for the riding of Bas-Richelieu—Nicolet—Bécancour. He first served as a Progressive Conservative MP from 1984 to 1990, the year in which he joined the Bloc Quebecois caucus after having sat as an independent for several months. He is the Dean of the House, the longest-serving current member of the House of Commons as well as the current interim parliamentary leader of the Bloc Québécois. He is the brother of famed Quebec lyricist Luc Plamondon.
