Michèle Thibodeau-DeGuire

In 1963, Michèle Thibodeau-DeGuire became the first woman to earn a degree in civil engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal. She went on to enjoy a 20-year career as a structural engineer with consulting firms Francis Boulva et associés and Lalonde, Girouard, Letendre et associés. In 1989, she was director of public relations at École Polytechnique when Marc Lépine shot 13 students and one office employee before turning the gun on himself. Thibodeau-DeGuire has been President of Centraide of Greater Montreal since 1991.
