The Week with Mark Sutcliffe

This Sunday, Mark welcomes:

• Althia Raj, Ottawa Bureau Chief, The Huffington Post
• Mark Kennedy, Parliamentary Bureau Chief, Postmedia News

Viewers are also invited to share their thoughts about the week’s political stories:

TRUDEAU & ATTACK ADS Within hours of Justin Trudeau becoming leader of the Liberal Party, Conservatives launched attack ads. Now both parties report a surge in support as a result. Are these ads working? Are they unfair? Do they change the tone of political discourse?

A QUESTION OF LEADERSHIP Trudeau's reaction in a TV interview to news of the Boston bombings prompted criticism from the prime minister. Trudeau rallied back, accusing Stephen Harper of politicizing the tragedy. Were Trudeau’s comments appropriate? Was the prime minister’s response fair? And how should politicians show leadership after events such as this?

TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKERS The opposition continued to attack government for mismanaging the temporary foreign workers program. Yet Conservatives this week revealed that even opposition MPs, including the Liberal Party's new leader, have written letters on behalf of employers seeking permits. Are changes needed to the program? Has the government done enough to protect Canadian jobs?

FREEDOM OF MP SPEECH Another Conservative MP defended the right of MPs to speak freely, without the party whip's prior consent. Should MPs be free to voice the opinions and wishes of their constituents?
