PRISON CLOSINGS: The Conservative government is shutting down the Kingston Penitentiary in Ontario and the Leclerc Institution in Quebec, claiming it will save $120 million annually. It is also closing a treatment centre. Government opposition and the union representing correctional officers are concerned about the impact. Is it the right decision to close these facilities?

CHARTER ANNIVERSARY: The Liberals marked the 30th anniversary of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms with a fundraising event. The NDP and Conservatives issued news releases.
