The Week with Mark Sutcliffe

This Sunday, Mark welcomes two political journalists to discuss the week in national politics. Viewers are also welcome to contribute their thoughts about the big stories of the week.

On the program:
* Lawrence Martin, Columnist for The Globe and Mail
* Althia Raj, Ottawa Bureau Chief for The Huffington Post Canada

Tune in, call in, and tweet in, this Sunday, to talk about:

GOLDEN HANDSHAKES: Thousands of public servants could be in line for buyouts as the federal government tries to trim its payroll. Critics say the plan is too generous and way out of line with the private sector. Just what kind of severance package should public servants receive? And what impact will the downsizing have on the delivery of services?

LEADERS IN LIMELIGHT: The Interim NDP Leader held her final caucus meeting this week. On March 24th the party elects a new leader. Of the seven candidates vying for the job, Thomas Mulcair continues to be the perceived front-runner. But he faced criticism from former NDP leader Ed Broadbent. Who will ultimately win? And what are the biggest obstacles and challenges this new leader faces?

JET LAG OR LOSS? The government appears to be backtracking on its plan to buy F-35 fighter jets – a commitment made in 2010 and part of the Conservative's platform in last year's election. With big questions about the cost and effectiveness of the jets, other countries have cancelled, delayed or scaled back the number they are buying. Should Canada change its plans?

ELECTION FRAUD ALLEGATIONS: Accusations of voter and election fraud continued to fly in the house for a third full week. There were new complaints of harassing phone calls and unregistered voters casting ballots in several ridings. Meanwhile, MPs voted unanimously to give Elections Canada more powers to investigate both past and future elections. How widespread were the problems in the last election?

ANYTHING ELSE: What are the national political stories that matter most to you this week?
