Penashue's resignation over questions about 2011 campaign doantions and the future of CFB Goose Bay are two of the major issues.

Labrador, the least-populous riding in Canada, became a standalone seat in 1988. The Liberals have had a lock on the region since Newfoundland and Labrador entered Confederation in 1949. The two exceptions: Penashue's 2011 victory and Progressive Conservative Ambrose Peddle from 1968 to 1972.

Penashue defeated Liberal incumbent Todd Russell by 79 votes:

Peter Penashue (Conservative)  4256 (39.8%)
Todd Russell (Liberal)       4177 (39.1%)
Jacob Larkin (NDP) 2120 (19.8%
George Barrett (Green) 139   (1.3%)

Here are the 2013 candidates:

Norman Andrews - Libertarian

Andrews has lived in Labrador since 1967 and believes the region has not received its fair share of natural resource revenue.

Harry Borlase - NDP

Borlase is a Labrador native who studied in Nova Scotia and Iceland before working at Memorial University. He has worked in research for northern resource development and sustainable practices, and is calling for improved maritime search-and-rescue capabilities.

Yvonne Jones - Liberal

Jones was a provincial MHA for Cartwright--L'Anse au Clair from 1996 until resigning to run federally. She was provincial Liberal leader from 2007 to 2011, resigning to recover from breast cancer treatment. Jones has also been mayor of Mary's Harbour.

Peter Penashue - Conservative

Penashue was elected in 2011 and served as intergovernmental affairs minister and president of the Queen's Privy Council until his resignation. Previously he was president and Grand Chief of the Innu Nation. Penashue has defended his record on the Muskrat Falls project, long-gun registry, and Trans-Labrador highway.

Another great interview. I was particularly happy to hear that Bruce intends to "Bop until he Drops".
Blockhead basher:
Ah, now I see. Definitely dealing with a blockhead. Fear mongering, war mongering, ya that's rational (if your a blockhead).
