In Caucus: Thursday

New Democrat MPs begin two days of caucus strategy sessions on Parliament Hill this morning.

The House of Commons resumes sitting Monday, Jan. 28.

New;y-elected Victoria MP Murray Rankin has been named national revenue critic. Hoang Mai had held the role since May 2011. Romeo Saganash, who returned to Parliament Hill this week after taking medical leave to treat alcohol addiction, has been named deputy critic for intergovernmental aboriginal affairs.

Saganash previously served as NDP critic for natural resources and international development.

Party leader Thomas Mulcair also hosted his provincial NDP counterparts earlier this week. Watch: PrimeTime Politics

The goal was to share experiences and remind Canadians that the NDP has held power in five provinces and one territory, according to Mulcair.
