►Four southern Ontario MPs go before the procedure committee, which continues to hear objections to proposed federal boundaries based on the 2011 census. They are: Human Resources Minister Diane Finley (Haldimand--Norfolk), Malcolm Allen (Welland), Dean Allison (Niagara West--Glanbrook), and Rick Dykstra (St. Catharines).
Finley's riding would be unchanged under the commission's plan. However, some residents of Dunnville had wanted to be moved east to a Niagara Region riding.
The commission backed down from an initial proposal to redraw Niagara's ridings on an east-west axis rather than north-south. However, Wainfleet and western portions of St. Catharines have been moved to Niagara West from Welland (to be once again renamed Niagara Centre) and St. Catharines, respectively.
The committee recently received 30-day extensions to the deadline for their reports on British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
