Wed May 1 2013

David Langtry, acting head of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, provides his opinion on Bill S-2 at the Commons status of women committee.

►What are the benefits for Canada joining the Pacific Alliance economic bloc? The international trade committee hears from the Canadian Environmental Law Association, Pulse Canada, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, and Bombardier Inc.

The four-nation economic bloc consists of Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. Canada has observer status.

►Immigration Minister Jason Kenney answers questions on Bill C-43 at the Senate social affairs committee. The legislation limits the review of certain foreign nationals and permanent residents who are inadmissible to Canada "on such grounds as serious criminality."

►Justice Minister Rob Nicholson goes before the Senate legal affairs committee, which is considering Bill S-16. A new Criminal Code offence would be created for trafficking in contraband tobacco.

►Conservative MP Larry Miller presents his bill on transboundary waters (C-383) to the Senate foreign affairs committee. Foreign Affairs and Environment officials also appear.

The legislation would strengthen federal laws to prohibit the bulk removal of transboundary waters.

Miller, whose Ontario riding meets Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, introduced the bill in December 2011. It includes stiffer penalties for corporate violations, plus a ban on river alterations that link Canadian or transboundary waters to international waters, increasing the annual flow of water from Canada.

The government has already signalled its support for the legislation.

►CBC/Radio-Canada president Hubert Lacroix explains the public broadcaster's decision to cut Radio Canada International's budget by 80 per cent.

Another great interview. I was particularly happy to hear that Bruce intends to "Bop until he Drops".
Blockhead basher:
Ah, now I see. Definitely dealing with a blockhead. Fear mongering, war mongering, ya that's rational (if your a blockhead).
