►Finance Minister Jim Flaherty discusses Bill C-60 at both the Commons and Senate finance committees.

►Defence Minister Peter MacKay presents main estimates to the Commons defence committee.

►Conservative MP Brent Rathgeber discusses his CBC disclosure bill (C-461) at the access to information committee.

Under Bill C-461, Information that could compromise the public broadcaster's "journalistic, creative, or programming independence" would remain exempt from the Access to Information Act, replacing the language currently found in Section 68.1. The highest salary and responsibility levels across the public service would be open to information requests.

►National Film Board officials brief the heritage committee on the study of Canadian history.

►Several experts answer questions on the Trans-Pacific Partnership at the international trade committee. They include Michael Hart (Carleton University), Michael Geist (University of Ottawa), and former Canadian trade negotiator Peter Clark.

►Conservative MP Russ Hiebert discusses his bill on union financial transparency (C-377) and the Senate banking, trade and commerce committee.

The legislation would impose a summary conviction and daily fine on unions that don't comply with new reporting requirements, which include:

  • financial statements
  • saalry information
  • transactions and investments over $5,000
  • loans issued and received over $250
  • spending on political activities, lobbying, and gifts

The information would be posted online.

►Former Supreme Court justice John Major is among the witnesses on Bill C-299 at the Senate legal affairs committee. It sets a minimum five-year sentence for kidnapping a minor under 16, unless the perpetrator is a parent, guardian, or someone with lawful care.
