MPs return to the second budget bill (C-45). Last week House Speaker Andrew Scheer ruled that more than two-thirds of the 1,667 amendments to the bill would not be considered. The remainder will be grouped into two sections. Up to 47 votes are eventually expected.
The government issued notice last week for a time allocation motion on the bill.
There were 871 opposition amendments to the first budget bill, tabled last spring. Scheer rejected 27 and grouped the rest into four sections. MPs voted 159 times over the course of nearly 24 hours.
Also on Monday's agenda: Bill C-420, which would establish a federal commissioner for children and young persons. Liberal MP Marc Garneau introduced the legislation.
