►An emergency debate on Syria is scheduled for 6:30pm ET / 3:30pm PT (approx). Watch live on CPAC.
House Speaker Andrew Scheer granted the request from Liberal foreign affairs critic Bob Rae, who argued yesterday:
"I do not think we can go on much longer without actually talking about this as a Parliament. I realize full well that the attention of many people is on other events that go on in the House from day to day.
"Still, we have to recognize that in terms of the threat to the security not only of the Middle East but of the whole world, this situation would certainly appear to be deteriorating rapidly. I think it is necessary for the House to become more engaged in dealing with its impact on civilians, its impact on Syria's neighbours and its impact on the security of the world so that, I would hope, we would be in a position to respond to it."
Rae pointed to the possible use of chemical weapons, the death of more than 70,000 civilians, and the flight of refugees to neighbouring Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan as the Assad regime and opposition forces continue to battle.
►It's the last day of second reading debate for Bill C-60, the first budget implementation bill.
►A bill to establish July 27 as an annual Korean War Veterans Day is debated for the first time in the House of Commons. Senator Yonah Martin originally introduced the bill (S-213) in the upper chamber.
