Canada needs a new fleet of fighter jets to replace the decades’ old CF-18s, but which aircraft at what cost? The government has already decided that the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is the only one that can meet the military’s needs. The opposition is fighting the purchase because it's being made without a competition from aircraft makers. When completed the acquisition will be the largest military equipment purchase in Canadian history.
Respected military journalist Scott Taylor will hear from all sides of the debate and gets exclusive access to some of the most advanced aerial fighter machines on the planet as he examines F-35: The Politics of Procurement.

A competition is only held after the CF has expressed its needs. Only after this, would a competition come into play. This is the proper transparent process of procurement of our parliamentary process. Should we not follow this process rather than ignore?

The show sadly lets two issues mix into one: what CF needs, and competitive selection. They are separate. CF can determine its needs without going through competitive selection. Therefore, forcing a competition is telling the CF its needs are wrong.

Most informative; please show it again!
Euopeans are getting cold feet, while Mr Harper is intent on pushing ahead regardless of cost. Time for evidence-based decisions not the reverse. Time to use due process and tenders to meet our needs.

I am ashamed of our politicians opposing this purchase and using this as a negative platform to oppose the conservatives. We entered this program 10 years ago as a bi-partisan Nation and now show the world that we can''t even come together on this.

Holding a competition to replace our aging fleet is just silly. How can THIS generation of stealth fighters win over the NEXT generation stealth fighter to come—the F35? The fact of the matter is Canadian tax payer invested money into JTF F35 and our Cana

$382.4 billion and 65 percent over budget and 4 years behind schedule. The F22 Raptor was cancelled for less problems. It has a -8 score as a 5th generation fighter (Air Power Australia). Next generation Jets will be unmanned in <10 years.
What folly!
