The Tenth National Metropolis Conference was held in Halifax from April 3
rd to 6
th. The theme of this year's conference was "
Expanding the Debate: Multiple Perspectives on Immigration to Canada".
The third plenary session was held on Saturday,
April 5th, 2008 and was entitled "
Temporary Migration - A Solution to Labour Market Responsiveness?" This panel began with an address by
Esmerelda Gutierrez, who is currently participating in the Temporary Foreign Workers Program at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax. Gutierrez spoke about how she became involved with the Temporary Foreign Workers Program, and how it has affected her life. The panel discussion followed Gutierrez's address. Among the participants were
Carol Logan (Prince George Hotel in Halifax),
Shannon Marchand (Alberta Employment and Immigration) and
Les Linklater (Citizenship and Immigration Canada).
